Some useful mods for the Valiant.
These are tried and proven ......
Having a problem with the plate tuning cap arcing over...
....Use a DX-100 tuning cap in it's place, it will just "fit" in with a little rearranging of RF final components.
For more 160M power out put add another 500pfd to the 500pfd ( total 1000 pfd) plate coupling cap.

Increase screen resistor to 17K, add a 5K 25W in series with R16- turn R16 so terminals are up and "piggy back" the 5K to it.

For more audio ...change C47 to a .005 Mfd @ 1.5KV
change C48 to 300 pfd @ 1.5KV
change C40 to 680pfd, 600 Vdc

To cure drive pot overheating add a 3 to 5K 3W resistor to the ground side of the pot , it will take some of the heat off the pot. If you have any problem acquiring enough drive on a band then "split" the resistance to hot side and cold side of drive pot.
